The AZMEDICA Azerbaijan-Türkiye Health Business Forum and Fair was held in Baku

Aimed at improving cooperation between Türkiye and Azerbaijan in the field of health, AZMEDICA Azerbaijan – the Türkiye Health Business Forum and Fair – was held in Baku, Azerbaijan on September 22–23, 2022, attended by the Ministers of Health of both countries.  

The event, hosted by USHAŞ under the aegis of the Ministry of Health, was attended by Turkish Minister of Health Dr. Fahrettin Koca and Azerbaijani Minister of Health Teymur Musayev, as well as a number of senior Ministry officials from both countries. More than 300 B2B meetings were held during the event, which attracted more than 750 participants from 150 Turkish and Azerbaijani companies.

In his opening speech, Turkish Minister of Health Dr. Fahrettin Koca emphasized the importance and value of this and similar events in bringing together the representatives of the public and private sectors operating in the field of health.

Azerbaijani Minister of Health Teymur Musayev, in turn, said that Türkiye and Azerbaijan enjoyed very good relations in the field of health, as in every other field. Dwelling on the support given by Türkiye to Azerbaijan in the field of health during the epidemic and the 2nd Nagorno-Karabakh War, Musayev gave thanks to the Turkish doctors who treated Azerbaijani veterans. After emphasizing that they had benefitted from the experience of Türkiye, Musayev added that they were determined to develop the bilateral relations even further.

Speaking at the panel entitled “Opportunities for Cooperation Between Azerbaijan and Türkiye for Treatment of International Patients, “USHAŞ General Manager Murat Mercan provided detailed information.

After the speeches, the Ministers visited the stands of the participating companies and received information from their representatives.   In addition, in order to evaluate the effectiveness of the forum and the meetings, the Turkish Minister and his accompanying official delegation met with the representatives of Turkish companies who participated in the event for a “Sector Meeting”, where the benefits of the forum and fair and the future goals and expectations of the sector were discussed.

On the sidelines of the forum, various panel discussions and sessions were held, attended by sectoral representatives and Ministry officials from both countries, including meetings entitled “Presentation of Investment and Cooperation Opportunities in Türkiye and Azerbaijan”, “New Overtures in Supply Chain Management in the Pandemic”, “Opportunities for Cooperation Between Azerbaijan and Türkiye in the Treatment of International Patients”, “The Digital Transformation of the Health Sector and Its Effects on Service Delivery, and Visions for the Future”, “R&D in Health”, “Cooperation in Vaccine Studies”, “Areas for Cooperation in Quality and Accreditation in the Health Sector”, “Public-Private Partnerships in Health Investments” and “Sharing of Experiences and Information on the Procurement of Services”, all of which were aimed at contributing to the sector.

As USHAŞ, we will continue to organize similar events without losing momentum with a view to promoting the achievements of the Turkish health system around the world, and to pioneer the exportation of our health assets.
